What does 2% FX cost for 10 employees earning $70,000?
Ten employees on $70,000 annual salaries represent $700,000 of annual salary payroll. If all of it is converted with a 2% markup, salary FX costs are $14,000 per year, or $1,166.67 per month. Make the effective fee a buying criterion
Ask every shortlisted supplier for the management fee and the currency cost for the same payroll scenario. Compare the combined monthly amount, alongside any additional provider charges. A zero-markup quote with the same $500 service fee would remove $14,000 of annual modelled FX cost in the default example, provided no replacement fee applies.
Request the rate source, fixing time, markup, calculation base and supported currency pairs in writing. Score missing FX information as “not disclosed”, not zero. Evaluate service scope and compliance needs alongside cost.
The calculation, without the small print

Salary inputs represent the USD equivalent at the reference rate before markup. The model assumes constant salary and headcount, twelve months of service fees and full salary conversion. FX on employer contributions, benefits or other converted amounts is excluded, so use the payroll-base calculator if those amounts also attract markup. Values are calculated at full precision and displayed to two decimal places; rounded monthly figures may not multiply exactly to the annual total.
Is 2% a verified Deel or Remote EOR markup?
No. The official pages checked on 24 September 2026 do not establish a universal 2% EOR markup for either supplier. This table uses 2% as a sensitivity assumption, not as an estimate attributed to Deel or Remote.
Deel’s pricing page describes competitive exchange rates but does not state a universal 2% EOR FX markup.
Remote’s FX rate explanation describes a monthly fixed rate that varies with currency conditions and conversion costs; it does not give a universal 2% markup.
Obtain a dated quote or a comparable invoice calculation before assigning a supplier-specific percentage. Contractor withdrawal charges and non-local salary add-ons should not be substituted for an EOR conversion markup.
